Noah was a righteous man chosen by God in a time when the world had become filled with sin and corruption. He is described in the Book of Genesis as a man who “walked with God,” showing great faith and obedience.
God commanded Noah to build an ark, a large vessel, to save himself, his family, and pairs of all living creatures from a great flood that would cleanse the earth. Despite ridicule from others, Noah faithfully followed God’s instructions and completed the ark.
When the flood came, rain fell for forty days and forty nights, covering the entire earth. Noah, his wife, his three sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and their wives, along with the animals, were saved inside the ark.
After the waters receded, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah sent out a dove, which eventually returned with an olive leaf, showing that the waters had gone down. Upon leaving the ark, Noah built an altar and offered thanks to God.
God then made a covenant with Noah, promising never again to destroy the earth with a flood. The rainbow was given as a sign of this everlasting covenant.
Noah lived a long life and is remembered as a symbol of righteousness, faith, and obedience to God.
