  • Saint Anthimos of Kourouklis was an Orthodox Christian ascetic and spiritual figure known for his deep faith, humility, and life of prayer.

He was born in the 18th century on the island of Kefalonia, Greece. From a young age, he showed a strong inclination toward the spiritual life. Despite losing his physical sight and becoming blind, he developed a profound inner vision, dedicating himself entirely to God through prayer, fasting, and ascetic struggle.

Saint Anthimos lived a simple and humble life, often in isolation, focusing on repentance and spiritual purification. He became known among the faithful for his wisdom, discernment, and holiness. Many people sought his counsel, and he was considered a guide for those seeking a deeper relationship with God.

He is remembered especially for his patience in suffering and his unwavering faith despite his blindness. His life reflects the Orthodox ideal that true sight is spiritual rather than physical.

Saint Anthimos reposed in peace and is honored as a saint for his holy life and example of devotion.

Saint Anthimos of Kourouklis is commemorated in the Orthodox Church on February 15.

This is the day when the faithful honor his ascetic life, humility, and unwavering faith.
