Saint Iakovos Tsalikis (1920–1991) was one of the most beloved saints of the Greek Orthodox Church, known for his deep faith, humility, kindness, and devotion to God. Born in Asia Minor, he later settled in Greece, where he dedicated his entire life to prayer, fasting, and serving others.
He became the abbot of the Monastery of Saint David the Elder in Evia, Greece, where he welcomed countless people seeking spiritual guidance, comfort, and healing. Saint Iakovos was known for his pure heart, his gift of discernment, and his great love for the poor, the sick, and those who were suffering. Despite his holiness, he remained humble and often asked others for forgiveness, expressing his gentle spirit through the words, “Forgive me.”
Throughout his life, he was deeply devoted to the Holy Eucharist, the Virgin Mary, and the saints of the Orthodox Church. Many faithful have testified to miraculous healings and blessings through his prayers. He reposed in the Lord on November 21, 1991, and was canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2017.
Today, Saint Iakovos Tsalikis is remembered as a shining example of humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. His life teaches us to love our neighbors, forgive one another, trust in God's will, and seek holiness through prayer and selfless love. May Saint Iakovos intercede for us and guide us on the path of salvation. Amen.
