"This icon depicts Saint Mark the Evangelist, beautifully crafted in the traditional Coptic Orthodox style. The saint is portrayed with a radiant golden halo against a classic gold-leaf background, wearing flowing garments in deep blue and vibrant red. In his right hand, he holds a highly detailed, geometric Coptic cross, symbolizing his historical role as the founder of the Church of Alexandria. In his left hand, he supports an open Gospel book displaying Coptic script, which reads the opening verse of his Gospel. The top corners of the icon feature elegant Arabic calligraphy that identifies him as 'Saint Mark the Apostle'."
