Saint Paisios came from Egypt and was born in the year 300 AD. from very rich parents, but also pious. They were seven brothers and the youngest was Paisios. At a young age he was orphaned by his father and his loving mother raised him according to the requirements of the Gospel. At a young age, Paisios went to the desert near the famous, for the virtue of Abba Pamvo. Guided by this experienced spiritual father, Paisios acquired many divine virtues. When Pamvo died, Paisios left for the western part of the desert and set up his residence there, where many people went to him, to ask for the way of salvation and to hear from his mouth words spiritually and psychologically beneficial. When Paisios reached old age, many brothers begged him to leave the desert and go down to the nearest town,so that many people may benefit from his holy words. Which happened and so many were given the opportunity to know the way of salvation, from the divinely inspired words of Paisios. Saint Paul was also a disciple of the Saint. After benefiting many of his fellow human beings, he died at a very old age and was buried in the desert where he practiced.
