  • The glorious new martyr of Christos Triantaphyllos was born in Zagora, Magnesia in 1663 AD. From a young age he worked as a sailor on one of the most famous Zagorian ships. In the summer of 1680 AD. his ship docked in the port of Istanbul. There Triantaphyllos visited the churches and sanctuaries of the city. For some reason unknown to us, he got into a quarrel with some Turks, who slandered him for allegedly wanting to become a Muslim.

Triantaphyllos, however, denied the slander and, remaining steadfast and steadfast in his faith, received the crown of martyrdom on August 8, 1680 AD. at the Istanbul Hippodrome, at the age of 18. On this day, his memory is honored both in Zagora and in Alykes, Volos.

A fragment of the holy Relic of Agios Triantaphyllos is found in the I. Monastery of Agios Nikolaos, on the island of Andros, together with the icon of the Saint.

It celebrates on the 8th of August every year.
