  • Brothers Kosmas and Damianos, who lived when Carinus was Roman emperor, were doctors by profession and provided healing to all those in need, and in return they did not receive money, but all they asked was to believe in Christ.

But some well-wishers sent the saints to the emperor and told him that the cures and miracles they performed were done with magical arts. Then the Saints Anargyros, because they did not want others to go to the emperor instead, came before him alone and Carinus tried to persuade them to deny Christ. But not only did they not renounce their faith, but they managed to persuade and change the emperor himself, since he himself received their healing cures. Specifically, when Carinus interrogated the Saints, the position of his face shifted and he turned to his back. Immediately then the Saints healed her with their prayer to Christ. Because of this miracle, those who were in front of him at that time believed in Christ.

Later, however, after a long time, the Saints were envied by the very teacher who had taught them medical science, because they had gained great glory and fame. For this reason he raised them to a mountain to allegedly collect some herbs and there he attacked them with stones and killed them.

It celebrates on the 1st of July every year.
